Countdown! It's less than a week until the 2008 Annual Meeting of WACUBO! There is still time to register!
Themed "Connecting Campus Cultures", the Annual Meeting surely will be a great opportunity to gain new skills and insights into ourselves and how to build a more inclusive, effective and engaged culture and organization. Many special events are planned for attendees to renunite and to meet new colleagues. The meeting will be held at the Sheraton Wildhorse Pass Resort, located in Chandler, Arizona (just outside of Phoenix) on the Gila River Indian Reservation. This beautifully appointed resort is set in the natural beauty of the Sonoran desert with offering opportunities to walk amidst and gaze upon Saguaro and other native cacti and plants, wild horses and mountains in the near distance. Or take a swim, go horseback riding, visit the spa or play tennis!
Around the meeting's sessions, there are plenty of options for everyone to wind down and reconnect with one another.
Consider starting the conference with a round of golf. This year's WACUBO golf tournament will be at the resort, at a Troon managed golf course. A continental breakfast will be available at 6 AM and all golfers should be ready to go by 6:30!
The opening reception and dinner will be held the evening of May 4th at Rawhide, an authentic Western theme town located adjacent to the resort. Great food and fun is planned in a casual setting! Wear your jeans and come to dinner, come to dance and come to share in some authentic old-time Western fun!
Monday's lunch again will be organized for the constituent members to have an opportunity to spend time together. Lunch will be at the conference center.
On Tuesday, make plans for three special events. Start the day with a full breakfast at the Annual meeting. Tuesday's lunch will feature Marshall Trimble, Arizona's State Historian, a poet, singer, storyteller, author, and teacher. Enjoy lunch with colleagues and have fun learning some Western lore. And cap the day off with the closing reception, banquet and dinner dance on Tuesday night. It will be held at the resort. Come to enjoy a final evening together, dining on fine southwestern fare at this beautiful resort and after dinner, dance the evening away.
We hope to see you in May!
