This year-long program is designed for aspiring chief business officers (CBOs) and aspiring chief financial officers (CFOs) whose next career step could be CBO or CFO of an institution of higher education. WACUBO intentionally targets this group because, when the next "higher up" is the college or university CFO or CBO, it can be challenging to find a mentor.

Mentees will be matched one-to-one with experienced, senior-level CBOs/CFOs who will serve as mentors.

The WACUBO Mentoring Program builds bench strength in those headed for CBO and CFO roles by supporting their professional development and through leveraging the expertise and talent of senior CBOs and CFOs in the region.

Program components and associated timeline are as follows:

  • Orientation workshop, in person: Sunday, April 29, 2018, Anaheim, prior to Annual Conference.
  • Monthly virtual one-on-one mentor/mentee meetings: May 2018-May 2019; timing to be arranged between the mentor and mentee.
  • Closing workshop, in person: Sunday, May 5, 2019, Vancouver, BC, prior to Annual Conference.

Throughout the year-long WACUBO Mentoring Program, mentees will participate in regular mentoring sessions with a senior level mentor, and engage in meaningful dialogues on topics such as developing as a leader in higher education, navigating change and transitions, building key relationships, and personal branding.
