The 4th Annual WACUBO Winter Management and Leadership Institute Moves to San Diego in January 2010
January 15-18, 2010
The fourth Annual Winter Management and Leadership Institute (WMLI) will move to sunny San Diego California on beautiful Mission Bay. The Dana Hotel on Mission Bay is adjacent to Sunset Park and the closest hotel to Sea World. Join us over the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday, on January 15-18, 2010. The Dana Hotel has confirmed an excellent room rate for WMLI participants of $119 plus tax per night. Institute registration will open in late October and the early registration discount will be offered through December 24, 2009. WMLI is geared towards those who:
• have always wanted to, but have never been able to attend WACUBO’s summer institutes; the BMI and the ELMI;
• desire professional development in an institute setting, with higher education colleagues;
• can not get away in the summer;
• do not want to leave the office for a full week;
• look forward to interactive sessions, professional development, and the opportunity to meet new colleagues and connect with other higher education professionals.
The WMLI was designed by WACUBO’s Small Institutions Committee, currently led by Chris McAlary, of Mount St. Mary’s College. It will offer the same high quality, intensive experience as the summer institutes, but at a more convenient time for you. Originally, WMLI was envisioned as a program for business officers, senior staff, directors and managers from small institutions who cannot get away in the summer, but who seek an institute experience with higher education colleagues. The scope has expanded to include individuals from community colleges and academic departments in large institutions who have broad responsibilities, limited staff and those who “wear many hats.” In its first three years, WMLI has drawn participants from all sizes and types of institutions. Sessions will cover key areas of interest to business officers; including financial management and leadership, business communication, the legal environment of higher education, and accounting updates for higher education institutions. The program will commence on Friday morning and conclude on Monday to minimize time away from the office. Sessions will maximize group interaction and networking opportunities, offering timely topics, nationally known faculty, and valuable time to discuss management and leadership challenges with colleagues. Plan now to attend! Visit www.wacubo.org for more details about WMLI in the coming months. For questions contact Monica Boulay, WMLI director, at EduSpeak@aol.com or (520) 298-8680.
